FAQ
Before you come in.
Do I need experience?
No. Most students start with no experience. Every class is built so beginners can learn alongside more experienced students. Coach Eric breaks down every technique so you understand what you're doing.
Which class should I start with?
If you're unsure, FTC generally recommends starting with Muay Thai. It's the most scalable and helps build confidence, coordination, and comfort fast. For grappling, BJJ before wrestling is recommended for complete beginners. All classes welcome beginners.
Do I need to be in shape first?
No. Start where you are and get in shape through training. Nobody walks in on day one in fight shape — that's the whole point of showing up.
Do I have to compete?
No. Competition is completely optional. But if you want to compete, Eric has D1, Olympic Training Center, and UFC-level coaching experience to prepare you at any level.
What should I wear?
Athletic clothing for your first class. Wrestling requires wrestling shoes. Muay Thai requires gloves and shin guards (loaners available for your first few classes). For BJJ and wrestling: rash guards or fitted athletic clothing.
Can I try a class first?
Yes. Your first class is free — but you must schedule in advance. Don't just show up. Reach out to Coach Eric to book your intro class.
What makes FTC different?
Legitimate martial arts instruction with individualized coaching based on biomechanics. Injury-conscious training in a serious environment without pressure. Eric is still actively competing in MMA and has trained with UFC-level athletes and coaches.
Is there parking?
Yes — free parking at the building. FTC is on the 2nd floor, accessible by stairs or elevator.
